Deako’s Universal Connector™ (Backplate) is natively compatible with copper-clad aluminum and traditional copper wiring up to 10 AWG. Additionally, the Universal Connector™ (Backplate) supports all Deako switches, enabling anyone to easily upgrade their home lighting.
Installation is quick and easy with the use of screw terminals on the rear of the Connector™ (Backplate) and is compatible with all NEC compliant light circuit wiring such as single-pole, 3-way, and 4-way configurations.

Does Deako require any special wiring?

No, Deako Connectors™ (Backplates) work with existing wires in your home. Deako smart products do require a neutral wire which is common in any home built in the US or Canada within the past 40 years.


What if I have multiple switches side-by-side?

When multiple switches sit beside each other, this is called a multi-gang. We support 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5-gang configurations. Use the drop-down menu on the Deako Store to select the correct number of gangs for your home.
