Deako’s Universal Backplate is natively compatible with copper-clad aluminum and traditional copper wiring up to 10 AWG. Additionally, the Universal Backplate supports all Deako switch modules, enabling anyone to easily upgrade their home lighting.
Installation is quick and easy with the use of screw terminals on the rear of the backplate and is compatible with all NEC compliant light circuit wiring such as single-pole, 3-way, and 4-way configurations.

Does Deako require any special wiring?

No, Deako backplates work with existing wires in your home. Deako smart products do require a neutral wire which is common in any home built in the US or Canada within the past 40 years.


What if I have multiple switches side-by-side?

When multiple switches sit beside each other, this is called a multi-gang. We support 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5-gang configurations. Use the drop-down menu on the Deako Store to select the correct number of gangs for your home.


Can Quickwire backplates be used on a multiway with wired backplates?

Yes, Quickwire backplates and wired backplates can be used on the same multiway. Check out wiring diagrams for multiways here.
